In order to guarantee that resources are allocated to areas that pose the greatest risk to the greyhound racing industry, the intelligence team employs risk-based and intelligence-led methodologies.

The primary function of this position is to collect and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data from a variety of internal and external sources in order to identify potential dangers and violations of racing regulations, the Code of Practice for the Keeping of Racing Greyhounds, and any applicable laws. The GRV’s Investigations team, Stewards Panel, or other relevant external agencies are notified of any identified potential risks and breaches.

Job Responsibilities

  • Engage members of the public, GRV staff and other agencies regarding potential breaches of the rules of racing or other risks that impact the integrity of the sport or welfare of greyhounds
  • Receive and record information collected via phone, in person or electronically from complainants, GRV staff or other agencies
  • Interrogate databases, systems and open sources to collect quantitative and qualitative information
  • Conduct pre and post reviews of all race meetings including in-depth form guide analysis and video replays
  • Evaluate information reports to provide an opinion on the reliability and accuracy of information provided
  • Provide briefings as required to various GRV audiences
  • Prepare information to refer to other agencies or greyhound jurisdictions
  • Conduct analysis of greyhound location data and audit data to identify trends and higher risks
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Manager Intelligence or the Manager Integrity Operations

Job Requirements

  • Strong appreciation of rules and regulations and an affinity for compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in multiple-source information research and analysis
  • Proven ability to extract and evaluate data to synthesise and distil information
  • Solid experience in dealing effectively with complex situations and difficult stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of greyhound racing and contemporary animal welfare practices, desirable.
